Broadband comparison

Business broadband deals

For a business, the right connection is the one that keeps everyday work moving. Think about card payments, calls, cloud software and file uploads before comparing the bill.

Choose your address on the next step to check available offers.

Write down what would stop working if the connection went down. That list is a better starting point than choosing by download speed alone.

Build a picture of a normal working day

A small shop taking payments has different priorities from a studio sending large files to clients. Note how many people use video meetings, whether phones run over the internet and which systems need an always-on connection. Ask about upload performance as well as downloads.

Enter the full premises address, including the unit or suite. If you are in a shared building, confirm who can approve installation work and whether an engineer can access the communications area.

Ask what business support actually includes

Check support hours, how faults are reported and what any repair commitment means in practice. A product called business broadband is not enough information on its own. Ask whether backup connectivity is included, how it activates and whether it would support your essential systems.

If your software supplier needs a static IP address, confirm availability and the extra charge. Keep guest Wi-Fi, staff access and payment devices in mind when asking about the supplied router.

Compare bills on the same basis

Check whether each displayed price includes VAT and use a consistent basis for your comparison. Add installation, equipment and optional service charges, then look at the minimum term and any scheduled increases.

If an interruption would be costly, ask providers about alternatives and service commitments rather than assuming an ordinary broadband package provides dedicated capacity. Choose around the impact on your business, not a label.

Questions before you compare

Do I need a static IP address?

Ask whoever manages your systems. Some remote access or hosted services need one, while other businesses have no use for it. Confirm the requirement before paying extra.

Does business broadband include a backup connection?

Check the individual offer. Ask how backup works, what equipment is needed and whether there are data limits or additional charges.
