More than a replacement landline
A business VoIP system can give each person an extension while keeping one main public number. Calls can ring desk phones, mobiles or laptops, which is useful for teams working across more than one location.
Features that are genuinely useful
Small businesses commonly benefit from an opening-hours message, a simple call menu, ring groups, voicemail-to-email and the ability to move a call between devices. Call recording and reporting may also help, but businesses should consider privacy, storage and staff policies before enabling them.
Plan the number transfer carefully
Do not cancel the existing telephone service until the new provider confirms the porting process. Ask what happens if the transfer is delayed, whether temporary numbers are supplied and how inbound calls will be handled during the change.
Check support and resilience
Find out what support is available outside normal office hours, whether the system can divert calls during an outage and whether mobile data can be used as a backup. A cheap system that leaves customers unable to reach you can quickly become expensive.
