Broadband comparison

Compare broadband packages for your home

A good broadband package should cope with a busy evening at home without making you pay for speed you rarely use. Start with your postcode, then choose your address to see which offers are available.

Choose your address on the next step to check available offers.

Before comparing prices, think about the moment your connection works hardest: someone on a video call, a film playing downstairs and a console downloading an update.

Choose for the way your household uses the internet

A couple who mostly browse and watch one programme at a time have different needs from a shared house with several people online each evening. Write down what happens at the same time, rather than counting every device you own. A smart speaker sitting idle is a different demand from a laptop uploading a large folder.

Compare upload speed as well as download speed if you regularly send videos, back up work or share files. If your current problem is one room losing Wi-Fi, look at router placement and coverage before paying for a faster package.

Check the connection at your actual property

Full fibre carries the fibre connection all the way to the property. Part fibre uses copper for the final stretch. The label matters, but the address check matters more: the packages offered for a neighbouring street may be different from yours.

Select the right flat or house from the address list. Ask about installation access and where equipment would go, especially if you rent or live in a building with shared entrances.

Read the cost over the whole contract

Keep the monthly bill, setup charge and any scheduled price changes together when you compare. Then check whether the package includes things you would otherwise pay for. A TV extra has little value if you already have a subscription you want to keep.

Once you have a shortlist, compare the provider's final order summary with the offer you selected. Check the start date, the minimum term and any equipment return instructions for the service you are leaving.

Questions before you compare

Do I need the fastest broadband available?

Choose around the things your household does at the same time. Extra speed can help with large downloads and busy households, but it may not fix poor Wi-Fi coverage in a distant room.

Why does the checker ask for my address?

A postcode can cover properties with different connections. Selecting your property helps narrow the offers before you confirm availability and installation with the provider.
